About The Book

Jey awakens to find himself in the care of a handsome stranger – a cheff from one of the mountain tribes, enemies of his own people. Afraid for his life, Jey has no choice but to let the man take care of him and his broken leg.

Avain is on his Aud’ling – his coming-of-age test that requires him to spend a couple months alone, away from his own people. When he finds the steader trapped under his aur with a broken leg, he knows he has to help. But not being allowed to speak during his test makes things… difficult.

The two of them will have to come to an understanding if they’re not going to kill one another. And Avain has a secret to share with Jey, one that that will change his life forever.

The Review

This short read is full of detailed world building and two beautifully and fully rendered characters. Jey and Avain are from two different cultures, trapped by unique circumstances, and challenged by their pasts.

The emotional journey is done with subtlety. The reader is taken along with the main characters until the end, where the author leaves us with a hopeful feeling, and the possibility of more.

The emp is such an interesting addition – a little cuteness and a little weirdness in a very tiny package. Sci-Fi readers will enjoy this novella. Four stars.

The Reviewer

In writing this bio I am taking a rare break from reading! I always have a book on hand just in case there is time to sneak in a chapter or two. As a military spouse and a mom of two boys, it is amazing how often I am hurrying up to wait. Luckily for me I don’t have a favorite genre so I get lots of fun authors to choose from. My education was in sociology and mental health counseling, so stories with strong character development are my favorites. Happily Ever After is the best part of romance for me because real life is hard enough.
