About The Book
In the town of Rancho Robles, can one werewolf protect the Children of the Wolf and the Bat? Chaos Wolf Jordan Abbey has made friends among the Black Oak Pack even though she refuses to join it. The same can’t be said of the vampires, but her life has taken a turn for the better.
That is until Enya Blevins, sister to the werewolf who turned Jordan, arrives in Rancho Robles. She wants to know who killed her baby brother and is less than impressed by the Chaos Wolf. Enya wants revenge, starting with Jordan and ending with the vampires infesting the area.
Jordan is prepared to flee, but a technicality makes her an Alpha Werewolf. Now she must stand her ground to protect her nascent Pack and those she loves.
The past has come back to bite her. Does she have the fangs to bite back?

The Review
Chaos wolf Jordan Abbey has been invited to attend a memorial ceremony for Bryan by the young wolves of Black Oak Pack.Bryan is one of the wolves who was viciously slaughtered by a hunter. She is surprised to find the young adults naked under the waxing half moon.
Jordan pays respect to Emma and David, who were considered family of the vampires, and the pack members aren’t too pleased, but they allow her this. As tradition goes, the young pack will hunt after the ceremony. But Jordan she makes a mistake, and it’s discovered that she doesn’t understand how to communicate with the pack in werewolf form. There are still so many things she hasn’t learned.
Before she leaves Alpha Shane’s home, he asks to speak with her alone. Shane and her Patron Montgomery don’t get along very well, and he has a message for Montgomery that he doesn’t want Montgomery’s sire, Leader Marcus, to find out about.
Shane relays to Montgomery that an Ambassador from Green River Pack is sending their Talespeaker, Luas and their Envoy, Enya Blevins, to find out what happened to their Alpha, Guinevere Lynden’s brother Rhys. Rhys was kicked out of the Green River Pack and attacked Jordan, and she killed him while protecting Montgomery.
She was talked into giving his fangs to Rosanna Lombardi, Montgomery’s blood-sister, who knew the rules but threatened Jordan with death if she didn’t give her the fangs of the wolf that killed her famulus. Rosanna won’t help Montgomery and return the fangs, and before he leaves, she gives him one more thing to think about. Nicolas Quinn, Montgomery’s older brother, is coming back to town, and that’s not good.
When Thorn, Montgomery and Jordan discuss the situation another part of Montgomery’s life is revealed. Once his mother died his father who was the original Alpha of The Black Oak Pack had made certain arrangements for his son. Montgomery would have been the next Alpha. Montgomery will now have to bend a little and call Alpha Shane. Shane didn’t help when Rhys was killing within the city and drew the hunters to their location. The Green River Pack could be coming to take control over The Black Oak territory and that would eliminate Shane.
With Shane and Montgomery finally talking, Shane assures him there’s no way out. The Green River Pack has followed all the old customs and are requesting to meet and find out officially what happened to Rhys. Of course, Jordan and Montgomery will have to be there. Plus there’s history between Enya Blevins and Montgomery.
Shane and Montgomery will have to come to an agreement to do as much as they can to help Jordan. Will the entire meeting backfire on them?
Hayes has crafted a powerful and exciting third story in the Jordan Abbey series. Jordan finds herself in a life or death challenge. She will have to put her human instincts in gear if she’s to have a chance to win. What will happen to her relationship with Montgomery and Thorn? Is Thorn really trust worthy?
I highly recommend Chaos Kin. It’s a fight to the end, full of surprises, secrets to be revealed, excitement, violence, drama, growing friendships, and the determination to survive. It’s fast paced with some great, very descriptive fight scenes. I hope this isn’t the last Jordan Abbey book – there’s still plenty here to work with.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
