About The Book
Jameson Havercamp, a psych from a conservative religious colony, has come to Oberon—unique among the Common Worlds—in search of a rare substance called pith. He’s guided through the wilds on his quest by Xander Kinnison, a handsome, cocky wing man with a troubled past.
Neither knows that Oberon is facing imminent destruction. Even as the world starts to fall apart around them, they have no idea what’s coming—or the bond that will develop between them as they race to avert a cataclysm.
Together, they will journey to uncover the secrets of this strange and singular world, even as it takes them beyond the bounds of reality itself to discover what truly binds them together.
The Review
Science fiction fans should be rejoicing. J Scott Coatsworth has rereleased his first book in the genre and holy wow what a way to begin.
The story and world building are phenomenal and sweep you in immediately. While the pace seems slow at first, as soon as Jameson Havercamp arrives on the split planet of Oberon, the reader needs to hold on, because the rest of the story is non-stop until you reach the epilogue. Coatsworth manages to weave adventure and fantasy into a sci-fi tapestry, along with romance elements.
The relationships between Jameson and Xander, and between the two men and Quince, are my favorite parts of the book. The ending is not complete as it is obviously part of a series. The questions that remain are enough to make you hope that book two comes out quickly, but still leaves the reader feeling satisfied by what you are given.
Overall an outstanding beginning, and I for one will be watching for the release of the rest of this series.
Five stars.

In writing this bio I am taking a rare break from reading! I always have a book on hand just in case there is time to sneak in a chapter or two. As a military spouse and a mom of two boys, it is amazing how often I am hurrying up to wait. Luckily for me I don’t have a favorite genre so I get lots of fun authors to choose from. My education was in sociology and mental health counseling, so stories with strong character development are my favorites. Happily Ever After is the best part of romance for me because real life is hard enough.
