About The Book

As far as Ruby Killingsworth is concerned, life could not possibly get any better. She is the wealthiest and most influential she’s ever been. Her entertainment empire continues to grow and thrive, her personal life is uncomplicated and fulfilling, and she continues to explore the unequaled magic she’s been granted access to.

In Ruby’s world, magic and money can solve just about any problem.

But when an email from the future arrives in her inbox—one that threatens her entire business and especially the career of one up-and-coming rock star—she finds neither of her usual solutions adequate to the task. She’ll need help getting to the bottom of this, and there’s only one person she knows who’s qualified to take on an adversary as esoteric as a possible time traveler.

The problem? That person is Jaccob “Stardust” Stevens, Cobalt City’s pre-eminent superhero, world-leading tech genius, and professional Good Guy, who also happens to be Ruby’s next-door neighbor and former flame.

With the help of a team of young heroes led by the legendary Kara Sparx, Jaccob and Ruby must find a way to work together to find the time travelers and stop them before they destroy everything Ruby has worked so hard to build.

And maybe, in time, they might just find each other again.

The Review

Jaccob “Stardust” Stevens is preparing for a meeting. The individual arrives, and it turns out to be Ruby Killingsworth, whom he parted ways with two years earlier due to undisclosed magic abilities. Like Jaccob, Ruby does not enjoy meetings, but this time she needs Jaccob’s help and has no other choice.

Jaccob’s son Mike has written a new song and is ready to record it, but it has been stolen. Ruby suspects someone with the ability to time-travel may be responsible for the theft, and believes such a person could cause significant disruptions. Despite his skepticism about time-travel, Jaccob decides to assist in resolving the situation to support his son.

Jaccob assembles a team of heroes to find out who is responsible for the problem. Most women on the team do not trust Ruby, and consider her evil, but Ruby makes them a deal that would be hard for anyone to refuse – a high salary, an apartment in Ruby’s office building, an expense account and all the luxuries they could imagine.

Ruby’s friendship with Loki, the God of Chaos, is something that everyone dislikes, but they are not willing to give up everything Ruby is offering them – including a huge bonus for the one who finds the answers. Of course, Ruby lets everyone know that she will not hesitate to use all her powers to punish anyone who crosses her.

Ruby is a unique woman – she has beauty, power, looks and money – and she uses all of them when necessary to get what she wants. Ruby and Jaccob begin to like being together again, but whether they get a second chance at a relationship is not something I will reveal in this review.

Four stars.
