All who live shall die, but few can plan for that transition.
Life's greatest mystery and most practical companion. The meeting with death is inevitable, the transition unknowable. What lay beyond could be tormenting, enlightening, blissful, or nothing of note.
The death mages of Miurag spend their lives observing death's transition in others, most preparing to one day meet their own. Privy to unique perceptions most would deem mad, their motives and choices beyond the veil are anyone's guess.
The stories included:
The Deathless Rises – An extraordinary desert sorcerer manages to outlive his Elven family and takes the hubris of life into the Nexus.
Devour the Oracle – A young Ma'ab woman learns all she can in the slum and slavery of her birth, knowing her death will germinate a new age of enlightenment.
At the Crossroads – A former monk pledges to an old death mage in an isolated tower. He's where he needs to be but cannot yet see when.
The Herald Returns – Miurag's newest Deathwalker returns to the Nexus. This time, he takes his body with him.
Harrowed's Breath – A young Guildsman returns to his homeland as one of the spirits he once worshipped, now seeking an elusive peace post-mortem.
Tales of Miurag: Death is a same-world anthology expanding the Sister Seekers series by A.S. Etaski.
This is not a standalone work. These stories follow established characters from previous books and are best read between Sister Seekers Book 8 and Book 12. This book contains spoilers and references to events in Tales of Miurag: The Desert as well as teasers for future novels in Sister Seekers.

“What are you hinting about Ishuna?” Cris asked. “Just say it, devil’s pet.”
Ranzi displayed all her teeth but refrained from braying in his face. “Sure, you know we serve the Infernal because we told you, but you can’t even sense the marks left all over you.”
“I know who I am.”
“Ha! Bull jizz. You’ve done deals with devils but actually serve the Sovereign, alongside your queen, ever since you two joined.”
“How do you know?”
“The fact that your kids even existed.”
His heart broke twelve times over. Again.
“I do not know what the Sovereign are,” he bit through tight lips.
“Yeah, no surprise. Constantly shifting like the Abyss, barely remember their own names.” The she-beast waved that away. “You’ve heard of demons, right? In the Abyss. And Devils in the Hells. What about Celestials or Eladrins?”
READ MORECris shook his head. “Wait, no. Stop. Are you…suggesting Ishuna was…?”
“Serving the Abyss. Yup.” Ranzi wrinkled her nose. “Oh, she stank of the demonic!”
“Thus said our Lord Rousse,” Jessel chimed in, her stride unbroken and crimson wings relaxed. “We never met this queen.”
The Hiyena blew air out of her muzzle. “But same as you, we woulda recognized the taint if we got a whiff.”
A chill swept through him to imagine the Desert Queendom now in demonic powers because he had left everything in Ishuna’s hands.
No.
“You couldn’t see it.” Ranzi shook her head. “That’s where your Sovereign did you a disservice. At least Jessel and I were granted the power to smell when another faction is involved and track it down.”
“How we found you so quickly,” the Fury cooed.
Cris snarled, fisting his hands. “If you insist, who is ‘my’ Sovereign?”
“Got no names to go with scents, sorry.” Ranzi peered down at him with those large brown eyes. “You must’ve fucked ‘em at some point. You like fucking men?”
He hadn’t finished a sputter before she shrugged him off.
“Then at some point, you fucked a woman who wasn’t like you,” she said with utter confidence. “No matter what she said or what she looked like.”
