It isn’t easy when you find yourself lost and alone in a strange place.

It’s even trickier when that place is a different world, and you have no idea how you got there.

Drome’s top priority isn’t to figure that out. It’s to avoid getting himself killed. But his talent for making enemies as he flees the villainous courtiers who took him hostage, really isn’t helping.

He’s in an unfamiliar city, in a bizarre hollow world, and he only has one friend. Well, that’s if he can call a snarky living skeleton with a penchant for stealing royal jewels a friend.

What with every palace guard and a crazed assassin after the pair, the odds are stacked against them.

Running out of time, luck, and options, it’s touch-and-go whether they’ll make it to Drome’s village and warn them of the horror coming their way.

And then there’s the wizard. If only Drome hadn’t angered him too…

So, is Drome in trouble?

Yup. He’s screwed.

About the Author

Kent Silverhill grew up with his nose buried in books and is now a full-time writer. Before that, he worked as a waiter, an industrial engineer and a web developer.

He currently has six published books under his belt: four in the Hollow humorous fantasy series ("Flight of the Gazebo", "Dangerous Ideals" and "A Taste of Steel" plus the prequel "The Persistence of Poison"), and two in the Chronicles of Wydoria series (Daphne Mayne and the Goblin Quest, Daphne Mayne and the Hounds of Magic). In the works are a fifth book (The Unfumbling) in the Hollow series and a third book (Daphne Mayne and the Phantom Queen) in the Chronicles of Wydoria series.

In his spare time, Kent enjoys drawing, cartooning, walking and reading (but not at the same time).

He is married, lives in Cape Town and has two cats that do not share his view of who's in charge.

Summary: The America of our near-future is divided across socio-economic and technological-philosophical lines. The Traditionalists eschew any and all post-human technologies in favor of tangible materials. They uphold strict hierarchical structures based on religion, family, and leadership. They long for the return of the global markets wiped out by a world-shaking disaster called The Great Tide. The Interconnected stand in stark opposition to their ways, living without property, family, or religion, and modifying their bodies with the help of new and invasive technologies. They speak to each other wordlessly, employing a technological telepathy they call ‘thexting’ to communicate mind to mind, and embrace the gifting economy of Merit to maintain their post-scarcity lifestyles. Marto, the traveling Interconnected historian, has exiled himself to protect the ones he loves from his dark secret. In his absence, Helen, a runaway Traditionalist aristocrat, struggles to find her place among the Interconnected, unwilling to return to her cruel family. Reyleena, the former head of security in the Interconnected town of Reverside, has returned to a life of quiet solitude, broken occasionally by the impositions of The Other, an omnipresent AI, who will not leave her alone. Meanwhile, Barnabas, the Traditionalist leader of New Atlantic, fights to return to his township in the wake of an attack.
