Perhaps casual nudity wasn’t Kim’ s best idea.
Dr. Kimberly Storm-Gale has to make it back to Tau Ceti University— and fast— after his peaceful research sabbatical is turned upside down by corporate predators. As he struggles to find a way to remain a free man, he doesn’t expect his research subjects to kidnap him.
Grandchild of the Jorann or not, Halla is a burden to the outcastes of Sanctuary Aanesh, where she has struggled for years to survive the loss of her life-partner — a battle she is slowly losing. Kim and Halla begin to dream about one another even before circumstances throw them together on Tolar, but now they have more to deal with than just their growing attraction: Kim may be the unwitting agent of a human government with designs on Halla’s world.
Outcaste is the engrossing sixth book in the Tales of Tolari Space science fiction series, but can also be read as a standalone. If you like planetary adventure and heart-warming romance, you’ll love Christie Meierz’ tales of the reclusive Tolari.

Kim stepped out of the airlock and into the outer docking ring, shifting his shoulders. He wasn’t used to clothing anymore. The blousy shirt felt too loose, the form-fitting breeches too tight, and the knee-high boots pinched his feet. He was sure they fit the last time he wore them, but perhaps nine months of wearing nothing but sandals had made his feet spread. Every bit of clothing felt too intrusively there. To distract himself, he combed his loose curls with his fingers to make sure they held no lingering clots of mud.
“You’re very lively for a dead man,” said a woman standing in front of him. She was covered head to toe in dove grey fabric, with dark Sayyar eyes showing through a niqab and only her bronze hands uncovered. “I’m Aafreen, the stationmaster. And you, my piratical-looking friend, must be Dr. Storm-Gale.”
“Just call me—” Kim interrupted the usual exhortation as her words hit home. “Did you say dead man?”
READ MOREAafreen laughed merrily. “Oh yes. Actually, dead is overstating it at this point. For the present, you are missing.” She rolled her eyes and placed a dramatic hand against the fabric covering her forehead. “According to the Kekrax, you received devastating news and disappeared, presumably into the jungle. The judges of Kekrax Main fear for your life.” She straightened and continued in a bright tone, “Would you like to come with me to C&C and talk about it?”
