An Urban Fantasy
by
They say the enemy of the enemy is your friend. But sometimes it's hard to know the true enemy--and harder still to know who your true friends are.
As a hunter, Constance Jaeger grew up believing that all vampires were evil. But now the Accords say they are citizens with rights. Constance is dubious. And her doubt grows when a vampire who scoffed at the Accords has murdered a neighborhood cop who looked out for the homeless, the sort of cop even the street kids trusted. She wants revenge.
Her strongest ally against the rogue bloodsucker is the charming, fiddle-playing Valentine McBain. He's seeking vengeance for a beloved servant and friend killed by the same vampire. The only problem? Valentine is a vampire too.
She doesn't want to trust him, but she may not have a choice. The deeper they dig into their mutual foe's machinations, the bigger the problems they uncover. Simple revenge rapidly turns into a tangled web of corruption, trafficking, and sorcery, until Constance and Valentine are the only ones who can stop the summoning of a demon powerful enough to destroy an entire city.
Assuming they can work together long enough to do it.

Marisa Z on Amazon wrote:The only good vampire is a dead one. At least that's what Constance, the lone hunter in Portland, OR believes. In fact, before the Accords, she'd just kill them all and let the devil sort'em. But this is post Accords, and although her attitude hasn't changed, she has to be more careful.
Then things go south. And who saves her? A filthy (handsome, suave, funny) vampire.
This action packed UF is a juicy glimpse into a future slow burn, enemies to lovers romance. It has it all, the hot fiddle playing vampire, the grumpy hunter, and lots of mutual enemies to take care of.
There is a rich cast of characters, from the villains to the innocents being saved and a bunch in between. Constance has to learn and grow past her familial brainwashing to find the truth. People are people no matter their supernatural type.
Shawna Reppert has done it again. Her great prose and story telling ability suck you in from the start and then you've read the whole thing, wondering how you got to the end of the story so fast, and are left wanting more!
I highly recommend this new series! And I'm already desperate for the next one!
GypJet on Amazon wrote:I read many paranormal books and I only review what I like. And I like books that have believable characters who do believable things within their world.
In this book, the MC finds herself in a major moral / ethical dilemma, something large enough to completely undermine her world view. The author doesn’t make her suddenly decide to throw away everything she knew, but shows us her growth towards making what to most of us would be a heartbreaking decision.
And the Vampire is cute too.
First time reading this author. Waiting for the next book in the series.
